Clarks Americas is currently seeking skilled Automation Technicians who will work under the direction of the Maintenance Leadperson at our Hanover, PA Logistics Center.  Those in these roles will be required to maintain and repair automation equipment and conveying systems and the associated equipment using good judgment and accepted maintenance procedures.    

Core Accountabilities:

  • Troubleshoot and reported defects and diagnose issues or abnormalities with conveyors, ASRS cranes, OSR mini load shuttles and the associated systems (material handling equipment) and carry out quality repairs to the affected equipment.
  • Electrical and mechanical repair of all material handling equipment and PLC based control systems.
  • Identify unreported defects or abnormalities with the material handling equipment and communicate these issues to leadership.
  • Maintain all material handling equipment in good working order with quality preventive maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Document all repairs and preventive maintenance performed to material handling equipment.
  • Communicate the need of any repair parts, supplies, tools or equipment to leadership.

Key Outputs/Results:

  • Quality repairs made to material handling equipment made in a timely manner to support production needs.
  • Minimize equipment downtime to better service the needs of our customers.
  • Develop new and innovative procedures and practices to better maintain and repair material handling equipment.
  • Completion of preventive maintenance to material handling equipment to ensure reliable operation of equipment and identification of issues before they cause bigger problems or downtime.
  • Using portable computers, input data of work performed on equipment for record keeping and help build reliability databases.
  • Leadership is aware of the need for repair parts, supplies, tools or equipment as soon as the need is apparent in order to maintain consistent well-run operations.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years industrial maintenance experience
  • PLC system troubleshooting and interpretation of ladder logic
  • Electrical systems troubleshooting and interpretation of schematic diagrams
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing
  • Electrical knowledge of AC systems of 480VAC and DC controls voltage
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Basic operation of personal computers using Microsoft Windows
  • Certified in TGW and Knapp systems repairs
  • Previous experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, ASRS and mini load systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as under the direction of Maintenance Leadperson
  • Interpersonal skills requiring ability to communicate with tact, patience and courtesy
  • Ability to work at heights up to 85 feet
  • Heavy lifting (up to 100lbs) and physical agility is required
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • "Safety First" work ethic and "Get it done right the first time" mentality are essential
