Clarks seeks a sales and general management professional with experience in the lifestyle and fashion sector of the North American footwear industry.  Clarks has defined premium and fashion forward channels of distribution and specific wholesale accounts as “Apex.”   Specific Clarks brand initiatives are targeted at reaching consumers that shop in these channels and accounts.  The initiatives are Clarks Originals, Bostonian Shoemakers, select brand collaborations, and select Clarks main brand styles and seasonal collections. 

The Apex Sales Director will directly manage a small team of sales professionals across the United States and collaborate with the Canadian independent specialty sales team to grow our business and brand in the Apex space. 


  • Achieve annual, quarterly, and monthly sales and profit revenue targets within defined channels and accounts.
  • Develop and direct sales and go-to-market strategy for Apex channels and accounts on a three and one-year rolling basis.  Align and champion the strategy with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Lead and manage sales team.  Build sales team as revenue and profits grow.
  • Align and collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, Product, Customer Service, Finance, and other functional support areas to deliver upon business and brand goals.
  • Function as part of a collaborative global Apex team that has agreed-upon multi-year, annual, and seasonal objectives.
  • Represent and present all Apex branded initiatives internally at Clarks both formally (Sales Meetings, Seasonal Product/Marketing meetings, etc.) and informally (weekly meetings, cross-functional collaboration, etc.).

Cadence of Role and Travel Requirements

  • Annual planning on the Clarks strategic planning cycle.
  • Team and performance management on an annual basis formally and regular basis less formally
  • Seasonal tradeshows in NYC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Toronto, and regionally as needed
  • Seasonal travel to England headquarters for collaborative planning on Product and Marketing
  • Regular market travel with peaks during sell-in season, based upon specific booking deadlines


  • BS Degree in business or related field preferred.
  • 10 years' experience 
  • Understand the working concepts of both Wholesale and Retail operations
  • Understanding of the footwear market and how to merchandise product for retailers
  • Strong financial understanding of goals and budgets
  • Ability to read, understand, analyze and take action on all business reports
  • Ability to directly manage sales teams in assortment planning and financial planning appropriate to each account profile
  • Strong salesmanship, effective communicator and excellent interpersonal communication skills
